Apex Locator with Pulp Tester.

The technology is a contributor to easier treatment, can also be connected to an Endo Motor.

  • Apex Locator With Pulp Tester: Technology-contributor to easier treatment. Can be connected to an Endo Motor
  • Magnetic Adsorption: Unique base design, 360 ° rotatable. -The viewing Angle of the screen can adjusted, no backlighting.
  • Anti-interference: Multi frequency. DSP technology.
  • Large color screen: 3.8inch LCD touch screen. Four-color display operation interface. It is clinically recommended to make the measurement to the 0.0 position and then manually subtract 0.5 ~1mm to obtain the final working length.
  • Sound recognition: Enable easier measurement. When the length indicator bar reaches a digital number below 1.5, the machine intermittently emits low-frequency beeps. The closer the tip is to the apical foramen, the quicker the sounds is. When the tip reaches the apical stop, the machine emits continuous high-frequency beeps. The sound level can be adjusted as you wish.
  • Root canal length measurement: Auto calibration after startup. New digital circuit. US central processing chip with DSP processing module. 0.1%high precision components. Information processing speed increased by 2.125 times.
  • Enable working length control during preparation when connected to an Endo Motor: Connecting the Ai-Pex to an Endo-Motor that can be connected to Apex Locator allows real-time observation of the position of the file in the root canal during operation and activates many automatic functions. (ex Auto reverse)
  • Accurate measurement of root canal length: Lowered environment requirements for root canal length measurement. Suitable for various complex root canals. Unaffected by blood and residual pulp, whether the root canal is dry or wet, it can automatically and precisely determine the position of apical foramen.
  • Constant current source electric pulp testing: When the clinical need to determine the vitality of the root pulp arises, electric pulp test must be used. In the case of thermal pulp test (cold & heat), the cold and heat stimuli can only reach the coronary pulp and cannot test the vitality of the root pulp.
  • Constant current enables more accurate measurement: There are two types of electric pulp testers: constant current type always keeps the current constant during the test; while the constant voltage type always keeps the voltage constant. Constant-current electric pulp testers are superior to constant-voltage ones in terms of accuracy ion determining pulpal viability and in correlating test values with histopathological classification.

How to use the Pulp Vitality Test Function:

  1. Long press the function button to switch to PT mode
  2. Press the speed button to adjust to the suitable working mode
  3. Connect lip hook and probe
  4. Coat the head of probe with a layer of conductive agent (toothpaste, etc..)
  5. Place the probe at the 1/3 position of the tooth neck. Test the tooth and it's adjacent tooth separately and compare the values when the patient feels tingling.
  6. Determine the pulp vitality based on comparative numerical analysis.

Introduction To Ai-Pex

Dr.Nahmias Using Ai-Pex

Q1: What does the "APEX"
indicator mean on the screen?

A: The "APEX" indicator on the screen shows that the endo file has reached the anatomical apical foramen. To ensure safety, the working length
should be calculated by subtracting 0.5-1mm from this measurement.

Q2: Why should I subtract 0.5-1mm from
the apex measurement?

A: This adjustment helps avoid over-instrumentation beyond the apical foramen, which can result in inaccurate work length or harm to the tooth.

Q3: Can I use files of any size for root
canals?

A: No, you must use files that are appropriate for the diameter of the root canal. Files that are too small for large canals may cause the device to show unstable readings.

Q4: How do I test the connection of the
file clip and measuring wire?

A: Before each use, connect the lip hook to the file clip and check that the connection icon is steady on the LCD screen. If it’s unstable, the file clip or measuring wire may be damaged.

Troubleshooting:

Q5: The device is not powering on. What
should I do?

A: Check if the battery is correctly installed or if it needs recharging. Reinstall or recharge as necessary.

Q6: Why is the length of the root canal
not being measured?

A: Ensure that the measuring wire is plugged firmly into the socket.
Test the wire connection by linking the lip hook to the file clip. If there is no response, the wire might be damaged.

Q7: Why is the screen showing
"OVER" at the start of the measurement?

A: If the screen shows "OVER" before reaching the apical foramen, push the endo needle slightly further into the canal. This can stabilize the signal and give an accurate reading.

Q8: The display is unstable, showing
irregular measurements. What could be the issue?

A: Check the following:

Ensure good contact between the lip hook and the oral mucosa.

Clean the tooth surface if blood, saliva, or liquid is causing interference.

Avoid metal crowns or contact with the gums, as this could cause signal irregularities.

 Battery and Power:

Q9: How do I know when to recharge the
battery?

A: The device will flash a low battery indicator when it's time to recharge. Always use the original adapter and battery for charging.

Q10: Can I use third-party batteries or
adapters?

A: No, using non-original components can result in inaccurate measurements and potentially damage the device.

Q11: What should I do if the charging
indicator goes out while charging?

A: Ensure the adapter is correctly connected, and check if the battery is installed properly. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the battery or use a new adapter.

Maintenance and Sterilization:

Q12: Which parts of the device can be
autoclaved?

A: The file clip, lip hook, touch probe, and pulp tester probe can be autoclaved under high temperature and pressure. This prevents cross-infection.
However, the main unit and wires should only be cleaned with 75% alcohol.

Q13: How often should I test the device
for accuracy?

A: It is recommended to test the device every two weeks using the tester provided. Ensure that the indicating bar stays within ±1 bars away from 0.0 on
the dial.

Pulp Test Mode:

Q14: How do I use the pulp test mode?

A: To use the pulp test function:

Explain the procedure to the patient.

Insert the pulp tester probe and lip hook into the sockets.

Power on the device and switch to pulp test mode.

Apply conductive agent (e.g., toothpaste) to the probe and place it on the middle 1/3 of the tooth.

Measure the value when the patient reacts to the tingling sensation.

Q15: What could cause false-positive
results in a pulp test?

A: False positives may occur due to:

The probe touching a metal restoration or gums.

Improper moisture isolation of the tooth.

Liquefied necrotic pulp conducting current to the periapical tissue.

Stress or anxiety causing the patient to signal prematurely.

Q16: What could cause false-negative
results in a pulp test?

A: False negatives may be due to:

The patient having used analgesics or narcotics.

Poor contact between the probe and the tooth.

Newly erupted teeth or teeth with calcified root canals.

Trauma to the affected tooth preventing a response.

Installation and Setup:

Q17: How do I connect the Apex Locator
to the Endo Motor?

A: Use the USB cable to connect the Apex Locator to the compatible Endo Motor. Once connected, the contra-angle icon will light up, indicating
successful communication between the two devices.

Q18: How do I set the Apical Stop?

A: The Apical Stop can be set between 0.0 and 0.5 by pressing the middle button. The device will beep continuously when the file reaches the Apical
Stop.

Device Care and Precautions:

Q19: Can this device be used by patients
with pacemakers?

A: No, this device generates electromagnetic interference and should not be used by patients with pacemakers.

Q20: What should I avoid when using this
device?

A: Avoid using the device in environments with electromagnetic interference, as it can affect measurements. Also, ensure the endo file and
file clip do not touch other metal instruments or the gums to prevent inaccurate readings.

Q21: How should I store the device when
not in use?

A: If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the
battery to prevent leakage or damage.
