Cleaning, Sterilization, and Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the torque wrench, follow these guidelines:
1. Initial Cleaning:
- Remove visible dirt immediately after use with pure, distilled, or deionized water.
- Brush the wrench thoroughly to clean the surfaces and threads.
2. Disinfection:
- Perform disinfection within 2 hours of cleaning.
- Automated disinfection is recommended using a washer-disinfector compliant with EN ISO 15883.
3. Sterilization:
- Sterilize using a fractional pre-vacuum steam sterilization method.
- Maximum sterilization temperature: 134°C for up to 20 minutes.
- Do not use alternative sterilization methods like hot air, radiation, or ethylene oxide.
4. Drying:
- Use a medical drying cabinet or clean, compressed air for drying after sterilization.
5. Inspection:
- Regularly inspect for wear, damage, or corrosion.
- Replace if there are signs of deformation or if the wrench has reached the end of its service life (up to 300 sterilization cycles).
6. Storage and Handling
- Store in a clean, dry environment with a temperature range of -20°C to +55°C and relative humidity of 10–93%.
- After sterilization, keep the wrench in a sealed sterile container or medical sterilization bag for up to 7 days. Reprocess if storage exceeds this period.
7. Safety Precautions
- Always use the torque wrench with compatible tips and equipment specified by the manufacturer.
- Avoid excessive force or attempts to modify the tool.
- Handle with care to prevent accidental drops or impacts.
